    Dr. James Gallagher  
     

    Dr. Gallagher graduated from LaSalle College in 1943. During World War II, he served in the United States Marine Corp. He first became part of the education system in 1949 teaching Social Studies and coaching Football at LaSalle High School. His team won the Philadelphia championship in 1955.

    He received his Masters Degree from Temple University and his Doctorial Degree from Nova University. Prior to joining the Central Bucks School system, he also taught Social Studies and coached football at the Hatboro Horsham High School.

    In 1962, he was appointed Central Bucks district's Athletic Director and Vice Principal. In 1967, he was appointed to oversee the construction of Central Bucks East High School and became the school's first Principal when it opened in September, 1969.

    Dr. Gallagher was not only an excellent administrator and outstanding educator, he also clearly understood the importance of athletics in developing school spirit and its identity in the community. Without his foresight and 20-year leadership, the outstanding educational and athletic accomplishments obtained at Central Bucks East would not have been achieved.

    In his honor, the Central Bucks East Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 1995.
