Current ActivitiesVeterans Day CeremonyDue to Covid, this year's celebration will be a virtual ceremony. A link to the ceremony will be sent out to our list of community and military members. We should be back in 2021, celebrating our veterans in person!
Operation Fill A BootUnfortunately, due to Covid this years event has been minimized to a letter writing campaign. We also collected personal hygiene supplies (hotel shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc.) to be shipped overseas. We should be able to host this again in 2021, once we are back to "normal".OEG once again supported our military personnel for the holiday season with Operation Fill A Boot. Students, parents, siblings and community members all came together to collect, pack and ship boxes weighing 1,340 pounds to numerous soldiers stationed overseas during this holiday season. We also packed over 100 stockings for Bethesda House in Philadelphia and over 100 stockings for the Liberty USO out of Philadelphia International Airport. Servicemen deploying overseas for the holidays will be handed a stocking as they board their transports. The 2019 campaign was the fifteenth year that OEG participated in this worthwhile activity. This activity has grown each year and we will participate again next year, date TBD. All are invited to help with the collection of items and packing of stockings!Wreaths Across AmericaOEG members participated in the laying of wreaths at Washington Crossing National Cemetery on Saturday, December 14. More than 4,500 wreaths were placed. This remembrance started over 25 years ago when Worcester Wreath Company donated Maine wreaths to adorn the headstones of our Nation's veterans at Arlington National Cemetery. It has grown to over 570 State, National and local cemeteries across the Country and 24 foreign cemeteries.OEG will participate again this year on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 with the ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m. More information can be found at wreathsacrossamerica.org.
