The PSAT is the practice test for the SAT.  It is offered one time every fall and is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. We encourage all collegebound juniors to take the PSAT.  The PSAT will be held at South on Saturday, October 17th.  The PSAT has two sections- Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. To learn more about the PSAT/NMSQT, please visit the CollegeBoard website.

To safely honor our District’s Health and Safety Plan and spacing requirements, the PSAT/NMSQT will be offered to JUNIORS ONLY this fall.  The PSAT 10 will be offered to SOPHOMORES ONLY in the spring.

PSAT REGISTRATION begins at 8:00AM on Friday, September 11th through 11:59PM on Monday, October 5th through My Payments Plus (only).

The cost for the PSAT is $30 and registration must be completed through MyPaymentsPlus.  Two days after a student registers, he or she can stop by the Main Office vestibule at South to pick up a PSAT Practice Booklet.  Price adjustments are automatically accounted for in MPP for students who qualify for free or reduced price meals.

The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The test begins at 8am but we ask all participating students to be here by 7:40 AM so the test can begin promptly at 8:00 AM.

Students should be prepared for the test by bringing a calculator and several #2 pencils. Extra batteries are also a good idea. Due to test security, cell phones should not be brought into the building on test day. The test should be completed by 11:30 AM but times may vary from room to room. Room assignments will be posted at South a few days before the test.

Students will access their scores through the College Board website.  Please visit the link below that outlines several features including how to access your scores, how to understand your score report, and how to access free test prep through KHAN Academy: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/scores
