PSAT/NMSQT--REGISTRATION ENDS 9/8 for Fall 2023 Testing!
The PSAT will be offered to 10th and 11th grade students on Saturday, October 14th, 2023.
The window for 10th & 11th grade families to register on My Payments Plus will be open from Monday August 7th until Friday September 8th.
This Fall, the PSAT is moving to digital only format. Students will be using their district laptops, with a downloaded College Board app. The College Board has provided a Frequently Asked Questions page to help everyone understand how these changes.
The College Board has also changed how PSAT registrations are processed, so late registrations are no longer possible. We plan to open registrations over the summer prior to the Fall ordering deadline so that all who register will get a seat; however, exam seats cannot be sold after registration closes on Friday September 8, 2023. We are opening the registration window during the summer break because there will not be much time to register before the College Board’s ordering deadline in September.
College bound 10th and 11th grade students are encouraged to take the PSAT to gain exposure to the SAT, an exam many colleges use when making admissions decisions. 11th grade students may also earn scores high enough to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. For more information about the PSAT, you can visit the College Board website.
If your student plans on using accommodations associated with a 504/IEP, the appropriate paperwork must be submitted to the College Board before August 21st, 2023. Please contact your 504/IEP Case Manager regarding your student’s testing status.
Please take note of the following MPP registration tips:
- If this is the first time you are using MPP for any of your students, then you'll need to create a new account.
- If you created an account for use with an older sibling, then you’ll need to add the new student to your already existing account.
- You will need your student's school ID to create a new MPP account, or to add a new student to an existing account.
- There is a “forget your username or password” button if needed, but you should not create a new account if your forget your login information.
- The "PSAT at South" activity will only appear as an activity you can register for after your student is added to your MPP account.
Students should plan to be in their exam room by 7:45am and plan for pick-up around 11:30/11:45am. There are no alternative exam dates, and registration is only open to South students.
While the PSAT/NMSQT is a tool used to prepare for the SAT, there are a number of resources we recommend Sophomores and Juniors utilize for test prep:
*College Board website- Taking a full-length SAT practice test is one of the best ways to simulate test day. Eight official SAT practice tests are available for free, both online and on paper. Created by the makers of the SAT, each practice test has the same types of questions you'll see on test day. Six of the practice tests have even previously been given as actual SAT exams.
*Take free SAT practice tests online with Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy®. Your answers will automatically be scored at the end of your test, and the timer will keep you on track with section time limits.
*The Central Bucks School District offers E-Prep, a free standardized test prep and practice program for the PSAT, SAT and ACT to all its students. Students are automatically registered for this program; registration information is as follows: username is the student email address, and password is South2022. If students cannot find the email or have problems logging in, please stop by the South library.
2023-24 AP Exam Information
AP testing takes place May 6 - 17, 2024 during the school day at CB South. Exams will be offered in a paper/pencil format. Students enrolled in an AP class at any point during the year will receive a “join code” from their assigned teacher. They will place that "join code" in their student AP CollegeBoard account. AP teachers will assist students in that process.
Once students have completed digital activation (joining) their AP classes, they must pay for the exams in their My Payments Plus account if they wish to take the exam or an exam will not be ordered for them. Specific dates for payment will be advertised in the principal's newsletter and through class canvas announcements. Payment periods in My Payments Plus will vary based upon when the student started the AP class (1st marking period, 2nd marking period, or 3rd marking period).
See registration and payment AP flowchart in attached documents
For more information about AP tests, visit the What Is AP? – AP Students | College Board website. Any questions regarding AP registration and ordering can be directed to CB South's AP Coordinator, Mr. Tom Hill - thill@cbsd.org
PreACT
2022-2023 School Year
The PreACT will be offered to all Central Bucks 10th grade students on Saturday, March 4th 2023 at 7:45am. Students should plan to be in their exam room by 7:45am and plan for pick-up around 11:15am. If your student is unable to attend on this date, please be aware there are no alternative exam dates.
College-bound 10th grade students are encouraged to take the PreACT to gain exposure to the ACT, an exam many colleges use when making admissions decisions. If students take both the PreACT and PSAT during 10th grade, they are able to compare scores and focus exclusively on their preference during 11th grade (SAT or ACT). For details about the PreACT, please visit the ACT website, or view this info sheet.
Registration will be open on the MyPaymentsPlus (MPP) website (https://www.mypaymentsplus.com/welcome) from Friday, January 13th through Monday, February 6th, 2023. Registrations are being taken prior to the ordering deadline so that all who register will get a seat; however, additional exams may not be available after registration closes. The cost of the PreACT is $30.
Please take note of the following registration tips:
- If this is the first time you are using MPP for any of your students, then you'll need to create a new account.
- If you created an account for use with an older sibling, then you’ll need to add the new student to your already existing account.
- You will need your student's school ID to create a new MPP account, or to add a new student to an existing account.
- There is a “forget your username or password” button if needed, but you should not create a new account if your forget your login information.
- The PreACT activity will only appear as an activity you can register for after your student is added to your MPP account.
If your student plans on using accommodations associated with an IEP, you must email your school counselor after completing registration. Please do not wait or we may not be able to provide your requested accommodations.
