Teacher Certification Information

  • Level II Instructional and Educational Specialist Certification

    Pennsylvania currently has two levels of certification. The initial certificate, Level I, is valid for a specific number of service years, during which time you must complete established requirements. Upon completion of those requirements, the Level I must be converted to a Level II certificate. 

    Requirements for Level II: Level II Check List

    • Twenty-four (24) post baccalaureate credits (earned after the conferral of the initial bachelor's degree) – An official electronic transcript can be submitted directly from your college or university to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). 
    • A minimum of three (3) years of Pennsylvania satisfactory service in a PA public school entity.
    • Six (6) semi-annual satisfactory ratings
    • New Teacher Induction

    All applications for certification must be submitted online through the Teacher Information Management System (TIMS).
