    About the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam in CBSD

    The Algebra 1 Keystone Exam is Pennsylvania's end of course assessment for Algebra.  The test consists of two (approx.) 1.5 hour assessments.  The first assessment module tests knowledge of Operations and Linear Equations & Inequalities.  The second assessment module tests knowledge of Linear Functions and Data Organizations.  The assessment includes both multiple-choice and open-ended responses.  You will testing resources and information to help prepare for the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam below.

     

    Preparing for the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam

     

    Students enrolled in Algebra 1 or Algebra 1B are required to take the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam at the end of the course.  Students who are currently taking one of these courses will be prepared for the assessment through their daily coursework in the class.  The curriuclum students are studying daily is fully aligned to the elgible content on the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam.

    Students who are not proficient or advanced are able to retest until they pass or reach the end of their Junior year in high school.  Students who need to retest have access to a variety of resources to help prepare for the test.  These resources are listed below.

    The item and scoring samplers listed below are provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  They are organized by module and include an answer key to check your work.

    All students in Central Bucks who need to retake the Keystone Exam have access to an interactive, online study program specifically designed to help students prepare for the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam.  If you are interested in using study island to prepare for the exam please follow the directions below.

    Khan Academy is an online site that contains many lessons to prepare you for the Keystone Exam.  If you are noticing you do not remember some of the content in the Item and Scoring Sampler you can refresh your memory of these concepts by watching the linked videos and answering the questions.

    Note that the Pennsylvania Department of Education graduation requirements related to Keystone Exams will require students in the class of 2017 to have reached proficiency of each of the three Keystone Exams. If a senior in the class of 2017 has not met proficiency, a project based assessment will be in place that would also allow a student to demonstrate proficiency and graduate.     Testing Requirements:
    Note that the Pennsylvania Department of Education graduation requirements related to Keystone Exams will require students in the class of 2022 to have reached proficiency on each of the three Keystone Exams.  Students in the classes of 2019-2021 are required to take the assessment while enrolled in the appropriate course and are encouraged to retake the test if proficiency is not reached on the first attempt.
