Congratulations to the CB South Mock Trial!

mock trial members Congratulations to Central Bucks High School South Mock Trial on advancing to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s State Championships. The defense squad won their regional trial against Merion Mercy to earn a spot at the state tournament. From a field of 230 teams, South now ranks among the top 16 teams in the state. The students look forward to competing in the virtual state competition next week.

Mock trial participants began their season with a competitive tryout this fall and prepared to act as lawyers and witnesses in a simulated trial. In this year’s trial, students enacted a civil case involving wrongful death. While trials have traditionally occurred in person with local judges and attorneys serving as jurors, participating students and the Pennsylvania Bar Association pivoted to trials over Zoom with impressive ease. Along with official competitions through the bar association, the team participated in virtual invitational tournaments and scrimmages across the state. Students earned multiple honors in lawyer and witness roles as well as a 3rd place finish at the University of Pennsylvania’s Ben Franklin Invitational.
