New Director of Human Resources Appointed by School Board

Robert Freiling, most recently the director of human resources for the food services provider of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, was appointed CBSD's new director of human resources at the School Board's September 10 business meeting. Prior to his time at HUP, Robert served as the executive officer, business agent and political coordinator for Teamsters Union Local No. 115 from 2011 to 2022.

As the principal leader for an on-site team serving 330-plus members in a complex Ivy League healthcare environment, Robert implemented strategies to optimize internal job posting, external recruitment, pre-employment hiring, and on-boarding processes. His responsibilities included overseeing compensation, benefits, workplace safety, labor relations, and employee recognition and engagement.

At Teamsters Union Local No. 115, Robert was responsible for the negotiation, implementation and administration of 14 collective bargaining agreements in the private and public employment sectors. He led labor relations activities related to performance evaluations, disciplinary proceedings, benefit allocation and policy compliance, and also directed political action and government relations activities.

Robert has also worked at Franklin & Marshall College and the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. He graduated from Widener University in 2008 and earned his Masters of Business Administration from Holy Family University in 2014.

Robert is set to begin his tenure at CBSD on September 30, 2024.
