Health Services

  • Health services personnel for students include certified school nurses, staff nurses, nursing assistants, consulting physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and dentists. In the Central Bucks School District, every health office is staffed by either a registered nurse (RN), a licensed practical nurse (LPN), and/or a certified school nurse (CSN), all of whom are trained in first aid and emergency procedures.

School nurses provide a variety of services, including maintaining student health records, conducting state-mandated health screenings, administering physician-prescribed medications, performing nursing assessments, interventions and procedures, responding to student illnesses and accidents, assisting physicians and dentists during school examinations, offering health counseling and referrals, delivering health-related classroom instruction, and acting as consultants for parents and staff on health-related issues.
