Special Subject Teachers
ARTThis is Mr. West’s first year teaching art in Central Bucks School District, but it is his 6th year teaching art overall. He is coming from Quakertown School District where he taught 1 year of high school art and 4 years of elementary art. Before teaching, Mr. West received his Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Kutztown University in 2009, and he is currently finishing up his final class with Cabrini College to earn a Master’s of Education. In his spare time, Mr. West loves doing things outside like going to the beach, hiking, and going to amusement parks. He also spends a lot of time making jewelry. In fact, Mr. West has worked professionally in the jewelry industry as a bench jeweler in order to constantly improve his art creation skills in the area of metalsmithing.LIBRARYMrs. Kraus started here at Buckingham during the 2012-2013 school year as Miss Dunn. She got married in November of that year and confused the students even more by changing her name after getting to know them for two months! Mrs. Kraus grew up in Warrington, attending Barclay Elementary, Tamanend Middle School, and finished her CB student experience at CB East HS. She attended Bloomsburg University for her undergraduate degree in elementary education. Mrs. Kraus started her career at Titus Elementary School teaching both first and fourth grade. While teaching, she obtained two Masters degrees, one being Library Science. After 7 wonderful years at Titus, she was excited to move into the librarian role at Buckingham. When Mrs. Kraus is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her toddler son, Emerson and husband Steve. You can also find her reading a book!!!MUSICMr. Weir has been teaching in Central Bucks for 28 years. This year he is teaching General Music at Buckingham Elementary School on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at Kutz Elementary School on Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as directing the Buckingham Chorus and musical. He has also taught Band and Strings at several other Central Bucks schools, as well as serving as the Band Director at C.B. West for six years. As a student he attended Butler Elementary, Unami Junior High School and Central Bucks West High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Gettysburg College, and has taken many graduate music courses at area universities. He especially enjoys performing on stage in area community and regional theaters, and enjoying his antique automobiles.
MUSIC - Instrumental BandMr. Branchfield received his Bachelor’s degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, and also holds Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. In addition to working as an elementary instrumental music teacher for the Central Bucks School District, Mr. Branchfield is also an active composer and arranger in the Philadelphia area. With over twenty years of experience, he has arranged and composed music for groups throughout the country. As a member of the American Society of Composers Arrangers and Publishers (ASCAP), his works have been published by Grand Messa Music Corporation as well as Ludwig Music Masters and distributed worldwide. His works have been performed at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic as well as the Pennsylvania Music Educator Association state conference. Many of his educational works have been added to prescribed festival and curriculum lists in many states including Texas, Ohio, Louisiana, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Recently, renowned music distributor JW Pepper honored Mr. Branchfield with a second Editor’s Choice Award for his piece The Force of Fire which was first performed by the students Buckingham.MUSIC - Instrumental OrchestraMr. Nugent grew up in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. He received his undergraduate degree in music education from West Chester University. This is his second year teaching at Buckingham, and he is excited to be back. In his free time he enjoys playing music, surfing, and camping.PENMrs. Vice is Buckingham’s PEN teacher for grades 3-6. She grew up in Bucks County and attended Archbishop Wood High School. She received her undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Middle School Mathematics from the University of Delaware. She received her Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Arcadia University. Mrs. Vice is currently taking classes for a Master’s degree in gifted education at Millersville University. Mrs. Vice began teaching at a Catholic school in Jenkintown, where she taught honors math. She also taught 4th and 6th grades at Mill Creek Elementary School before taking her current position as a PEN teacher. In her spare time, Mrs. Vice enjoys reading, playing with her puppy, working on various house projects, and cheering on her favorite team – the Pittsburgh Steelers!PHYSICAL EDUCATIONMR. DURIE
Q.U.E.S.T. teacher Mrs. Doherty grew up right here in Bucks County, where she currently lives. She received her undergraduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Florida, and then went on to attend Holy Family University for her Master’s degree in Education and her Master’s degree in Reading. She has taught in several different grade levels and buildings across the district. She is passionate about teaching and loves coming to work every day. In her spare time she loves visiting the beach, going to the library for a great new book and going to Phillies games.
