In order to protect the health and safety of all students, all medications administered during the school day must be brought to and administered in the Health Office. No medication will be administered to any student without proper completion of the Medication Dispensing Form. The form must be completed for BOTH prescription and over the counter medications and signed by BOTH the physician AND parent/guardian. Students may not have medication in their possession during the school day.

Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, and Tums may be given to students when written permission has been obtained in the Annual Student Information Update.

An adult must deliver all controlled medications to the Health Office. These medications must be counted, recorded and signed for by both the adult delivering the medication and the nurse accepting the medication.

    Medication Policy

All medication, whether prescription or over-the-counter, must be kept in the Health Office. Medication must be sent in the original labeled container and must be accompanied by a Medication Dispensing Form signed by both the physician and the parents.

With parent permission indicated in the Annual Student Information Update, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and Tums may be administered according to the manufacturer's suggested dosage. Your child should not come to school on narcotic medication for pain management, as these medications may cause dizziness, light-headedness, and sedation, which make it difficult for your child to function safely and effectively in school.

Administration of specific nonprescription medication is available to all students under the guidelines of the District's Medical Director. These medications include cough drops, throat spray, and Neosporin Ointment.

All controlled medication must be hand-delivered to the school nurse by a parent or guardian, at which time it will be counted and signed for.
