    CIRCULATION

HOW MANY BOOKS CAN I CHECK OUT?

    • Kindergarten and 1st Grade may check out 2 books.
    • Grades 2 - 6 may check out 3 books.
    • Students in any grade may ask the librarian for additional numbers of titles for research or special projects.
    • Reference materials may circulate in school for one day and may not be taken home.
    • Each student is responsible for items which appear in his/her library record.

HOW LONG CAN I HAVE THE BOOKS?
All items for K – 2nd are loaned for 1 week.  Grades 3 – 6 have 2 weeks.  Students may renew books if needed.  However, the book must be brought to the library for renewal.

    OVERDUE BOOKS

    WHAT DOES OVERDUE MEAN?
Overdue means your book is late being returned to the library.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BOOK IS OVERDUE?

    • Each student is responsible for items which appear in his/her library record.
    • Students with overdue items may not checkout new items.
    • Students with overdue items who need materials for in-school assignments may borrow a book for one day with librarian approval.
    • There is no late fee for items that are overdue.
    • Items that are overdue for more than two months will be considered “Lost” and a notice of replacement fees will be sent. Lost book notices are given to students to take home. If a response is not received within one week of the notice being given to a student, the same notice along with a letter of explanation will be sent to the student’s home.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT BOOKS ARE OVERDUE?
Overdue notices will be sent to students and staff.  If you receive one of these half-slips, it is a reminder about your book.  No payment is due.

    LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS

WHAT DO I DO IF I LOST A BOOK?

    • If a book is thought to be lost, patrons are responsible for providing the funds to replace the item. Please do not try to buy the item yourself.  Many books are library-bound to make them sturdier, therefore a paperback copy is not a sufficient replacement.
    • Come to the library and let us know that you have lost a book. We will tell you how much it will cost to replace the book.  Sometimes the book is thought to be lost, but with a little more time and closer looking it is often found.
    • Bring in the replacement fee either in cash or a check made out to Kutz.

WHAT IF I FIND THE BOOK AFTER I'VE PAID FOR IT?
If a replacement fee is paid and the item is found within 3 months, a full refund will be provided. Items found after that will not receive a refund, as the replacement fee has been spent on a replacement title.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A BOOK IS DAMAGED?

Damage includes water, broken spines, coloring inside/on cover, chewed/ripped pages, etc.  If a book is damaged while checked out, the book should brought to the attention of the librarian or library assistant to determine the extent of the damage.

    ·        If a book is damaged beyond repair, the borrower is responsible for the cost of  replacement.

    • Students will be presented with a copy of the damaged item’s record highlighting the replacement cost.
    • If the replacement fee is not received within a timely manner, the librarian will contact parent/guardian by mail, phone or email and a copy of the item record along with a note requesting the fee will be sent.

    UNPAID FINES

WHAT IF I HAVE AN UNPAID FINE AT THE END OF THE YEAR?

If there are unpaid library fines,  report cards will be held until the fine is paid or the book is brought back.
