Bucks County Random Acts Of Kindness Day ~ November 2015
Bucks County has declared November 19th as Random Acts of Kindness Day throughout our area. This day honors the memory of Abby Schumer, a former Groveland student, who died in 2012 from a brain tumor. Since then, Abby's Light Foundation has been created to carry on Abby's legacy of making children and adults smile by simply being kind. On November 19th, Abby's birthday, we are encouraging our Groveland community to honor Abby's memory by performing an Act of Kindness (AOK) - a small act that affects others in a positive manner, simply making them smile. Our teachers and students will also be taking part in AOK, showing how one small act of kindness can make someone's day. For more information about Abby's Light Foundation, visit www.abbyslight.org.
As we look ahead to November, our gears begin to shift to thinking about giving thanks to others. Although we have many things to be thankful for, one thing stands out to us. Working in a school community, where students are excited to come to school, and parents and teachers work together to ensure a successful experience for our children, is truly something we are all thankful for here at Groveland. We couldn't do what we do each day without all of us working together on the same team - for that we are very thankful. We wish you a wonderful November and Thanksgiving holiday. We hope you find time to enjoy your families and friends during this time.
