The High School Art Curriculum builds on the K–8 art experience while supporting students as creative thinkers, problem-solvers, and developing artists. Courses are grounded in both the National Core Arts Standards and the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for the Arts and Humanities, with continued emphasis on the creative process, guided skill development, art production, art history, art criticism, aesthetics, reflection, and critique. Through hands-on studio work, discussion, writing, and performance-based assessment, students strengthen technical skills, artistic vocabulary, visual problem-solving, and personal voice while making meaningful connections between art, culture, community, and future pathways.
High school art offerings include:
- Art 1–4 and AP Studio Art
- Introduction to Ceramics, Ceramics 1, Ceramics 2, Ceramics 3, and Ceramics 4
- Digital Imaging 1 and 2, Graphic Design & Illustration, and 3D Modeling & Animation
- Sculpture
- Drawing & Painting 1–2
- The Art of Photography, Beginning Photography, Intermediate Photography, and Advanced Photography
- Collaborative ArtStudents may use high school art courses to explore personal interests, build a strong portfolio, prepare for post-secondary art study, or continue developing art as a meaningful part of their lives. Students planning to major in art are encouraged to select a variety of courses that support broad skill development and individual creative goals.
