MBIT Students Win Film Fest
Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) Multimedia Technology students were recognized for their imaginative talents at the 19th annual Bucks Fever FilmFest.
FilmFest began back in 1999 with the intention of adding a contemporary art form of growing interest in Bucks County. FilmFest would encourage and support the growth of a filmmaking community by providing a venue to view the works of area professional and student filmmakers.
The winning short film “We Can Fix This” created by MBIT students, not only won the High School – Narrative Film category this month, but also won last year as well for the 10‐day Challenge Award for original short film. The eleven students that collaborated on this film include Maya Long (Director, William Tennent), Shamus Duffy (Actor, CB West), Nalani McDonald (Actor, Council Rock South), Skylar Pinto (Editor, CB West), Emma Kujath (Co‐Writer/Producer, CB West), Matt Musick (Camera, CB East Alumni), Dario Adame (Camera/Co‐Writer, CB West Alumni), Zach Gehring (Audio, Council Rock North), Alex Bitters (CB South), Ian Kozlik (CB West), and Sydney Nunn (CB West) (Poster).
The multimedia technology winners are under the support and instruction of their teacher, James Davey, an Emmy Award winner in his own right. Mr. Davey joined the staff at Middle Bucks in January 2015 to teach Multimedia Technology to students from Centennial, Central Bucks, Council Rock and New Hope Solebury school districts. The multimedia technology program offers high school students the opportunity to learn several types of media production while developing a full understanding of hardware, software, and equipment necessary for delivering effective presentations for business, education, and entertainment.
