CB East's Patriot Players Make a Wish Come True
The last performance of the CB East Patriot Players' production of "Newsies" was memorable for many reasons - a talented cast, a great show, and so much more - but the star of the show was five-year-old Aden. Through fundraising by the cast and community supporters, Aden and his family will be headed to Disney World through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and he was presented with his wish on stage!
The CB East Patriot Players have been raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2012. Since that time, they have granted wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, enriching the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. The Players are honored to support the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and support their vision, "...to making every eligible child's wish come true."
In order to help Aden realize his wish, the Players raised funds through their annual Children's Theatre Workshop. This year's workshop, held in March, involved over 80 CBSD elementary school students. Once combined with proceeds from "Newsies" and a generous $4,000 match from the law firm of Stern & Eisenberg in Warrington, the Players' total donation to Make-A-Wish reached $8,000!
Through the support of the Make-A-Wish offices of the greater Philadelphia area, the students were able to meet Aden and his family and have them all attend the performance. After bringing Aden on stage, they read the Make-A-Wish proclamation and presented this brave, amazing little boy with a Newsies cap of his very own!
"It is an honor to help bring happiness to children like Aden," Patriot Players Director Sasha Eisenberg said, "In addition to producing high quality theatrical productions, the Patriot Players are dedicated to helping the community."
