This past Friday night, Tamanend hosted our 18th annual Jazz Festival. The Tamanend Jazz Band and Symphonic Swing Ensemble performed spectacularly and played fantastic hosts to eight different regional bands. You should be very proud of your hard work and spectacular performance. Mr. Werner would like to thank Senioras Murry and Mars and all of the national junior honor society students for helping out around the building; without your assistance, the festival would not have run so smoothly. Mr. Werner is also extremely grateful for all of the student and parent volunteers that helped prepare for the festival and volunteer around the building on Friday night. Thank you again and congratulations to all on an awesome night for our community.
Both the Symphonic Swing Ensemble and Jazz Band will rehearse on their normal days this week; and this Friday, the Jazz Band will be competing at the Indian Valley Jazz Festival. Have a great week.
The Boomerang Youth Recognition Award is a district wide program which recognizes and honors youth in our community for exemplifying and living by the chosen asset for each month of the school year.
For the month of March the asset was Planning and Decision Making . Recognizing a young person who knows how to plan ahead and make positive choices. people. We had 23 nominations. All nominees will be celebrated tomorrow during a special meeting in the library during advisory. Today we would like to highlight our building winner: Ryan R.
Ryan has been planning ahead and making great decisions regarding his schooling all year long. He is always prepared and comes to school with everything he needs. He makes wise decisions to get a head start on any long-term tasks given to him so that he doesn't have to crunch everything last minute. He is responsible with using his assignment book, and that helps him to remember everything that he has due coming up. Ryan makes other strong, positive decisions when it comes to peers. When a peer of his didn't feel comfortable at his current lunch table, Ryan invited his peer to sit with him and his friends at lunch so that he felt more comfortable in the lunch setting. 7th grade can be a year of big adjustment and Ryan is shining through it all!
Congratulations to Ryan and all the nominees!
