This afternoon, a Commonwealth Court issued a ruling that voids the Pennsylvania Acting Secretary of Health’s masking order. Shortly after that, the district received a communication from the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education, notifying Commonwealth school districts of the state’s intent to file an appeal today, which would trigger a stay of the Commonwealth Court’s ruling and keep the masking order in effect. Per the Pennsylvania Department of Education, “Schools should continue to observe the school masking order throughout the duration of the Court’s proceedings.”
Per the Pennsylvania Department of Education and in consultation with our district solicitor, nochanges will be made to our current masking procedures and all approved mask exemptions will continue to be honored. The district will monitor this matter closely and will communicate updates as soon as they are available.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we navigate this ever-changing situation.
Abram M. Lucabaugh, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools
