Groveland Donates 1,000 Books to Malawi School

Students in Malawi read books donated by Groveland staff Last spring, with the help from a Groveland "Casual for a Cause," fundraising effort, Groveland Elementary School was able to donate 1,000 books to a school in Malawi, Africa.

The books recently arrived in Malawi and are now in the hands of the students. Considered one of the ten poorest countries in the world, Malawi's students continually face shortages of educational materials and a lack of access to education. Surely families in Malawi share the same desire for their children to be successful as the teachers and families do here in the Central Bucks School District. Sharing resources like books is one way that the Groveland community can share the blessings that they enjoy with these deserving students and teachers so far away - a direct connection with the district's goal to graduate students who demonstrate a global understanding, and who strive to be positive contributors to local and world communities.

"It is so amazing that Groveland has been able to help share their love of literacy with students here and halfway across the world," Groveland teacher Courtney Wood said. Thanks are due to all who supported this amazing effort.
