Three CB Students Place First at PA National History Day

National History Day winners Marjorie Yaschur, Hari Kasibhotla, and Lucas Vicente-Mendoza

Congratulations to three CBSD students who placed first in two categories at National History Day in Pennsylvania, conducted April 25 and 26 at the University of Scranton.

Marjorie Yaschur, a junior at CB East, won first place in the Individual Senior Exhibit category for her submission, "The Sweet Side of History: Unwrapping Hershey's Great American Chocolate Bar."

Hari Kasibhotla and Lucas Vicente-Mendoza, juniors at CB South, won the Senior Group Website category with their submission, "The Meiji Restoration: Rise of an Asian Powerhouse."

Marjorie, Hari, and Lucas will now move on to the National Competition for National History Day held in June at the University of Maryland. Good luck!

More than 40 CB students competed at National History Day in PA. In addition to Marjori, Hari, and Lucas, nine students qualified for run-offs - a difficult feat at this highly competitive event. The district is proud of each scholar's contribution to bringing the past to life!
