One-to-One Technology Fee and Digital Wellness Initiative

The words "2026-27 Technology in CBSD" above icons of a bullseye, scales of justice, and a shield to represent, in order, "Purposeful," "Balanced" and "Monitored"

Central Bucks School District's Technology & Innovation team is preparing for the start of the 2026-27 school year, including student device distribution.

Whether your child is receiving a new device this year or continuing to use a previously issued device, we want to share several important updates and next steps.

Digital Wellness Initiative

Central Bucks is committed to providing students with safe, responsible, and purposeful access to technology. This year, we are enhancing our Digital Wellness Initiative that will bring together students and staff to discuss research, community feedback, and best practices related to technology use.

The goal of this work is to develop balanced guidance that supports responsible screen time, digital citizenship, and online safety.

To support families immediately, we have expanded our use of Lightspeed tools:

  • All parents and guardians will be registered for the Lightspeed Parent Portal. Starting Sunday, Sept. 20, you will begin to receive weekly web history reports. This provides families with greater visibility into their child's online activity on district devices while at home. Weekly Student Activity Reports are automatically emailed to parents and guardians and summarize student web browsing activity from home. You may opt out of this at any time. Learn more by reading here: Lightspeed Parent Portal.
  • Lightspeed Screen Time Analytics helps the district better understand how school-issued devices are being used during and outside of school hours. The district will monitor weekly reports showing screentime trends of our students with our Digital Wellness Committee.

Additionally, Central Bucks is committed to helping families better understand the technology used to support teaching and learning. Parents and guardians can review many of the educational software applications used throughout the district on our website. This resource provides greater transparency into the digital tools students may use during the school year and the educational purpose they serve. Learn more here: Public Portal

One-to-One Device Program

Central Bucks provides students with district-managed devices to ensure consistent learning experience. School-issued devices include:

  • Internet filtering and security protections
  • Required educational software and applications
  • Technical support and repair services
  • Access to instructional tools used by teachers

Even if your child has a personal device at home, we ask that all students participate in the district's One-to-One (1:1) Program to maintain a consistent learning platform.

Your school will communicate device distribution dates separately.

First Steps for Families

Beginning Aug. 11, families of students in grades four, seven, and 10, as well as families who are new to Central Bucks, must complete the following steps before receiving a device:

  1. Visit CBSD 1:1 Program webpage
  2. Review the 1:1 Handbook with your child.
  3. Complete the User Agreement and submit the required usage fee through https://www.mypaymentsplus.com/welcome.

Submitting the agreement and payment confirms that both the parent/guardian and student have reviewed the program requirements.
