For Asher Mills, the key to earning a perfect score on his AP® English Language and Composition Exam can be summed up in two words. Granola bar.
As she walks past the classroom doors in Central Bucks West High School these days, Izabella Mazzenga, is quick to notice something others might miss – coffee mugs, 200 of them, in fact, that are proudly displayed and holding pens, sweets, plants, and even, sometimes, a hot brew.
Schools in the Central Bucks School District have long been at the forefront of technological advancement in the classroom. But three years ago, when the staff at Bridge Valley Elementary School first began the rigorous and immersive process of becoming a Microsoft Showcase School, they had no idea the lengths to which this commitment would be tested.
For Central Bucks East graduate Michael Metalsky, being one of only 197 students worldwide to earn a perfect score on the 2022 AP 2D Art and Design Exam was great. But there was something else that was even greater. And that was “to be able to creatively express myself throughout the entire thing,” he says.
When the lights finally came on last month at Central Bucks High School East, it signified much more than just the ability to schedule night time sports. For many in the local community it was the culmination of more than two decades of work.
