Dear Sixth Grade Student in Ms. Schweitzer’s Class,

I am really happy to have you as a sixth grade Trailblazer.  Sixth grade is an exciting year where you will learn many fascinating things about: early humans and the rise of civilization, ancient Egypt, the Middle East, ancient India, ancient China, pollution, Earth’s changing surface and the human body in motion.  We will be reading some of my favorite books and discussing them in depth.

Open House is on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Our classroom number is 203. This year school starts on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.  I hope to meet you.

There are some things that you should bring with you on the first day of school. Please see the Bridge Valley Supply List for sixth grade which is found on the website. The grade level list posted on the website has the essential supplies needed for the school year. Back to School Night will be TBD. Please check the school calendar.

    1. One marble composition book
    2. Three different colored plastic pocket folders with fasteners in the middle
    3. Two boxes of tissues

If possible, the following items are also recommended for our classroom.  These are, however, not required. If you are willing to donate any of the following, it would be greatly appreciated.

        1. A spray bottle with Windex or a generic brand

        2. A can of disinfectant wipes

In addition, please bring in any size pictures and words from magazines, newspapers, books or from the computer.  The pictures and words should deal with you in some way (hobbies, favorite things to do, see, eat etc...). Also, please bring in any size pictures of you, your family or friends.  We will be making a collage with the pictures and words and then it will be displayed on a bulletin board for the entire year.  You should have a total of 50 pictures and words brought to school in a plastic bag on the first day of school.

Please do not label any folders; we will do this in a special, orderly way.  We will not use a binder; please do not bring one to school. We will have snack time every day; please be sure to bring in a nutritious snack (fruit, vegetables, cheese, crackers, etc.).  Enjoy the remainder of summer; I am eager to get to know you and have a fantastic school year!

I am so excited to meet you!

    Ms. Schweitzer
