Distance Learning Update Monday March 16, 2020

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding during this difficult time. In accordance with the recommendations put forth by the Central Bucks School District there has been a change to the plan originally discussed and posted on the Canvas Calendar. I will be removing the assignments currently posted on Canvas Calendar through March and replacing them each day in Modules and Assignments.

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday March 17, instead of presenting new content and material, I will be posting daily in the modules tab (Distance Learning will be listed at the top by date). These assignments will be posted everyday before 8am, some may be posted the night before.

    CANVAS Distance Learning Module

There will be different articles, primary sources, current events, videos and/or other resources related to and enriching what we have already learned during Units 1 and 2. These lessons should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Each assignment will also have a Supplemental/Optional component that allows you to further your leaning if you choose. When you complete the assignment, submit it through Canvas. You will not receive a letter or % grade, but I will try to provide formative feedback whenever possible.

Even though there won’t be a grade attached to each assignment the idea is to keep everyone involved, engaged and thinking critically. Each assignment will be somehow related to something we have already learned and asks students to respond in some way. Please read the directions for each assignment, they may be different from day-to-day.

The good news is that we have actually already learned about a number of topics and issues that are very relevant, which these assignments will relate to. Some of the topics we have learned about in class so far include:

    • Purpose of Government
    • Social Contract
    • Scientific Revolution
    • Enlightenment Ideas
    • Geography
    • Causes of Revolution
    • Leadership
    • Nationalism
    • Communism
    • Capitalism
    • Military Strategy
    • Capital Punishment

Again, thank you for your flexibility and understanding. We are all trying to find our way through this.

Stay positive. When this is over we will look back and be stronger for it. If you have questions don’t hesitate to contact me at btracy@cbsd.org
