    I will be available to communicate using my CBSD email

    (mgarner@cbsd.org) between the hours of 7:30 AM and 2:30 PM.  Please submit your assignments on our canvas class site so that I can provide feedback .  To check your weekly assignment use the Distance Learning Weekly Assignment for specific directions.

  • Daily  Expectations

    Period 3

    • Team Meeting - Tuesdays from 10:00 to 10:30.  ( Teams meeting link sent out through email)
    • Independent work - 10:30  to  11:30 .
    • Sign on for individual check ins on teams .( Teams meeting link sent out through email )
    • Complete work and submit all work on canvas on the day of our lesson.

    Our class will meet on the assigned day and time using MS Teams.  Your invitation to our meeting and invidual sessions will be emailed to you .

    Our classroom will be primarily using our Canvas page to assign and collect work and email for communication .

    Download today’s presentation on canvas and review.

    The presentation is called "Informational Writing during distance learning ".  

    Review the third  slide as your warm-up and answer each “W” question in your writer’s notebook .

    Advance to slide four (4)  for more detail on the picture in your warm- up .

    Today you will begin drafting for this week’s writing assignment.

    Review slides 10-15

    On Slide 15 choose one of the sentence starters as a conclusion .

    Submit a draft of your paragraph on Canvas or share it with me on Office 365 at mgarner@cbsd.org

    Overview :   Use words , phrases and descriptive details to retell a personal experience .

    Estimated Time : 30 minutes

    Lesson :    

    Review the “Writing From a Picture” presentation on Canvas .  This presentation can be found in the  “Narrative Paragraph” module.

    After reviewing my model and example , Complete your paragraph .  Write with as much detail and description as possible.  Also try to include transition words for that show time and place.

    Examples that  show time :  the next day , after awhile , before long , in the afternoon , later that evening 

    Examples that show place :  In our backyard , when I was upstairs , behind the door , at the lake , outside in the fresh air 

     

    You can submit your completed sheet on canvas or share your organizer to mgarner@cbsd.org .  I will provide feedback on your final submission .

    After reviewing my model and example , open the Narrative Graphic Paragraph Graphic Organizer to add details to your story . 

    Today you will complete the organizer with as much detail as you can recall from your experience .

    You can submit your completed sheet on canvas or share your organizer to mgarner@cbsd.org .  I will provide feedback and comments before we draft tomorrow .

    Listen  first to the "Spell and Teach"  and then play “Hang Mouse “ with your words.

     

    Writing Review 

    Review the “Strong  Verb Presentation” on Canvas .  This presentation can be found in the  “Writing using Strong Verbs” module.

    On slide #9 there are two pictures.  Pick one picture and write a 3-5 sentence paragraph using the strong verb “gallop”. 

    Use your editing checklist posted on canvas to complete a final copy.

    Review Prepositional Phrase Presentation on our canvas course .  

    Review the draft  poem from your writer’s notebook and type poem on a word document. 

    Bold each preposition and add one image that illustrates your poem.
