Our first day of school will arrive in no time! I am sure you will be rested and ready to begin a new school year. Remember to bring a favorite book from your summer reading list. You will need to talk informally about the book during the first week of school. I will share my summer book as well. I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 4th.

Hello from Room C-114!
Fifth grade is just around the corner and I am excited to be your new teacher! It is hard to believe that the entire summer is ahead of us. I hope you are planning to have just as much fun this summer as I am. I plan to discover some great locations to ride with my new bike. I am sure to visit several states as well since I love to explore. In fact, I am starting my summer with a trip to Washington, D.C. to visit family. I may even travel to Asheville, North Carolina to visit more family. Of course, I will complete some long overdue house projects.
I would love for you to write a letter to me later in the summer, perhaps just before school starts! Send it to school. Here is the address: Butler Elementary School, 200 Brittany Drive, Chalfont, PA 18914. Mail it so that it arrives at school by Wednesday, August 29th. Tell me about yourself and about any exciting things that happened during the summer. Feel free to mention books that you read or places you visited. Tell me how you feel about school. If you enjoy drawing, include a sketch.
I can’t wait to lead you through your fifth-grade journey this coming year. We will make a lot of new discoveries together. Being organized is important. I have a few suggestions concerning school supplies that will help us to be organized. I created a supply list for our classroom. Also, as we think ahead to school snacks and birthday celebrations, let’s join everyone in our district trend to support healthy nutrition awareness. Additionally, we may need to avoid peanuts and tree nuts in our classroom. I will let you know.
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 4th. I hope that you will read a few books this summer. Please bring a favorite book to school. You will need to talk informally about the book during the first week. Be prepared. I love to learn and to listen and to laugh! (And, you may have heard, I love to tell stories!) I look forward to seeing you again in September.

PS – I may be adding another bookshelf or two to the classroom. I love books!!!
