2026 Superintendent Search

From Dec. 22, 2025 through Jan. 18. 2026, applications were accepted from candidates seeking to be the next superintendent of Central Bucks School District.
On March 24, 2026, the school board announced Dr. Joanna M. Wexler (pictured) as the finalist candidate for superintendent.
On April 8, 2026, a community forum was held at CB West to introduce Dr. Wexler and address pre-submitted questions from the public.
On April 14, 2026, the board officially approved a five-year appointment for Dr. Wexler at a special meeting. Her anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.

Central Bucks School District sought an experienced, future-looking superintendent of schools to lead one of Pennsylvania’s premier public school systems. This role presents a significant opportunity for a proven education executive to advance academic excellence, strengthen complex systems, and steward a large, high-performing district through its next chapter.
About the Search
At the Nov. 20, 2025 business meeting of the CBSD school board, the board voted to retain the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) to facilitate the search process for the district's next superintendent. The Bucks IU is an experienced provider of superintendent and education executive search services and will support the board by developing interview protocols, assisting with logistics, and facilitating the interview process. The members of the board retain sole responsibility for determining which candidates advance through each stage of the process and for selecting the district’s next superintendent.
About Central Bucks
Spanning more than 120 square miles in the heart of Bucks County, PA, Central Bucks School District (CBSD) is one of the largest school districts in Pennsylvania, serving approximately 17,000 students, their families and the Central Bucks community. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade attend 23 CBSD schools across nine municipalities: Chalfont, Doylestown and New Britain boroughs, and Buckingham, Doylestown, New Britain, Plumstead, Warrington and Warwick townships. CBSD employs more than 3,000 faculty and staff serving students attending 15 elementary schools, five middle schools, and three high schools.

Several opportunities were available for CB stakeholders to share the traits, characteristics, and priorities they believe are important in the district's next superintendent.
Internal Input Sessions
Feedback was gathered during internal meetings with various employee groups.
Survey
A survey was open to all community members from Jan. 5-16, 2026. The survey had more than 840 respondents.
Forums
Forums open to all community members were held on Jan. 12 at CB East; Jan. 13 at CB South; and Jan. 14 at CB West.
Forum with Finalist
A forum with the finalist candidate, Dr. Joanna Wexler, was held on April 8 prior to the board voting on the appointment on April 14.
