Safety in Action

Student safety is and always will be the main priority for Central Bucks School District.

Safety and Security Team

CBSD has a dedicated Safety & Security team that supports all schools, teachers, and staff. These professionals are visible in school buildings, provide regular check-ins, and help implement safety practices across the district.

Safety Drills

All schools conduct required safety drills throughout the year. These drills prepare students and staff to respond quickly and effectively in case of emergencies.

Screening for School Access

All visitors must check in through our Raptor Visitor Management System. This system screens entries and helps us manage who is coming into our schools each day, and who cannot be permitted entrance.

School Resource Officers (SROs)

CBSD partners with local law enforcement to provide school resource officers stationed in our high schools. Each of CB's three high schools has an SRO. These officers help maintain a safe and supportive environment through their work as mentors, observers, and first responders.

Handle with Care

Through a partnership with local agencies, schools receive confidential notifications if a student has recently experienced a traumatic event. This helps staff provide extra support and understanding when it is needed most.

Emergency Preparedness

Staff and students are trained in nationally recognized safety programs such as Stop the Bleed and the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). These provide clear and consistent actions to follow during emergencies.

Building Security Enhancements

The district continues to invest in building security, including updates to doors, locks, and identification systems. These improvements help us maintain secure learning environments.

Lockdown Procedures

In the unlikely event of a threat or other emergency situation inside or near a school, clear lockdown procedures are in place. Staff are trained to secure classrooms and keep students safe until an all-clear is given.

Comms Systems

In addition to traditional tools like radios, the district uses advanced communication platforms that enhance coordination with first responders in emergencies.

Security Cameras

Interior and exterior cameras are installed around CBSD schools and campuses to support safety monitoring. Video footage is securely stored and may only be accessed by authorized personnel.

Classroom Safety Measures

Schools are equipped with a variety of measures, such as door locks, designated safe spaces, and room identification signs, to help keep classrooms secure and ensure responders can quickly locate rooms if needed.

Safe2Say Something

Students, families, and staff can use this anonymous reporting program operated by the PA Office of Attorney General to share concerns about safety. CBSD staff are alerted to Safe2Say reports to respond accordingly.

District Security Committee

The district maintains a Security Committee of administrators who meet regularly to review procedures, address concerns, and make recommendations for continued safety improvements.

Identification & Access Badges

Staff and authorized visitors use ID badges to access secured areas of school buildings. Temporary badges are available for substitutes and other approved personnel.

Fire Safety & Emergency Equipment

Schools are equipped with fire extinguishers, evacuation chairs, and other emergency equipment. Staff receive training in how to use these tools effectively.

Swatting Protocols

Swatting calls are false reports of active threats designed to prompt a large police response. These hoaxes have brought authorities to schools, people’s homes, places of work, and other locations. Swatting is a disruptive and harmful felony that causes fear and trauma within communities and strains organizational and law enforcement resources.

CBSD's Emergency Operations Plan includes a dedicated Swatting Annex, developed from state and federal guidance, which provides staff with steps to follow if an anonymous threat is received. The district's approach is twofold: act prudently to protect students and staff, while working to minimize unnecessary disruption to school operations.
