Lifeguard Courses/Recertification Classes
Spring 2026 American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Includes First Aid, CPR, AED, and Deep Water
Format: Online + In-Person (Classroom & Pool)
🔹 Prerequisites & Requirements
- Minimum Age: 15 by the final session of selected course
- Online course work completed PRIOR to first day of class
- Swimming Skills Evaluation (both must be successfully completed):
- Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence (complete without stopping to rest)
➤Jump in, totally submerge, resurface
➤Swim 150 yards (front crawl, breaststroke, or combination of both)
➤ Swim goggles are allowed
➤Maintain position with head above the surface of water for 2 minutes by treading water using legs only
➤Swim 50 more yards (front crawl, breaststroke, or combination of both)
*Swimming on back or side, or resting, is not permitted.
- Timed Brick Retrieval (1 min 40 sec)
➤Starting in the water, swim 20 yards
➤Face may be in or out of the water
➤Goggles are not allowed
➤ Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7–10 feet to retrieve a 10-lb object
➤ Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point while holding the object at he surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
➤Exit water without using a ladder or steps
- Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence (complete without stopping to rest)
- Attendance: Students must attend all sessions of their selected course (either all days in April or all days in May) and bring food/drink for breaks.

- For currently certified lifeguards (current Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification required)
- Online course work completed PRIOR to start of class
- Swimming Skills Evaluation (same as skills listed above for lifeguarding course)
- Attendance: Students must attend full time of their selected course.

Personal Equipment: Participants must bring their own mask kit, including adult and infant sizes. Otherwise, they must purchase a kit at the start of class for $15 cash.

Refund Policy
- Failure of any prerequisite and/or course requirement does not validate a refund/credit.
- Failure to attend an in-person skills session will result in no refund and not passing the course.
- All course requirements must be completed to pass, including completing required online training PRIOR to the first class. It is suggested that you complete this well in advance.
- Refunds due to advance withdrawal from the course are subject to a $50 fee, and will be considered only if the request is received at least one week prior to the first day of the class.
