Each day students will take part in a rigorous, yet relevant combination of whole group instruction, differentiated guided reading groups, and meaningful activities in which they will apply what they are learning to their own independent reading. Students will have the opportunity to work independently and with their peers. This year students will learn how to utilize a variety of reading comprehension strategies, understand new vocabulary and language structure, improve their fluency, and apply critical thinking skills when interacting with texts. During the course of the school year, you will see your child's reading strengthen as they become more aware of what good readers do BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER they are given a text. Seeing a child's love of reading grow and develop is what you will see happening in third grade!
