Dear First Grader,
Welcome to First Grade at Groveland! My name is Mrs. Rybny and I will be your teacher this year! I hope you are enjoying a fantastic summer and you are ready for an exciting year of learning together! I am really looking forward to having you as one of my students and can’t wait to see you in a few weeks. This year you will embark on a journey to become the best reader, writer, mathematician, scientist, and friend that you can be! But best of all, you will love learning and coming to first grade each day! Here is some important information to help you prepare for the first few days of school.
- “Me Bags”: To help us all get to know each other, I am asking you to bring in a special “Me Bag”! Please decorate a paper lunch bag and put three or four things that you would like to share with the class. You might put in a photograph, a souvenir from a trip, or something that you made. Remember to put your name on the bag and bring it with you on the first day of school. During the first week or two of school, we will share our collections with each other. I will be sharing one, too!
- Snack: We will have snack each day, so you can bring a small snack to eat. Also, don’t forget to bring a water bottle!
- Lunch: We will have lunch each day, so you can either bring a packed lunch or you can get lunch at school!
- Supplies: Remember to bring all of your supplies on the first day of school! (see the separate supply list)
I am so excited to begin a new school year, and I hope you are, too! Enjoy the last few weeks of summer. I’ll see you in Room 106 on August 30th for the first day of school!
Your Excited Teacher,
