Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Lauren Lafferty
My name is Mrs. Lafferty. I have been teaching in Central Bucks for the past 16 years. I’ve taught mostly 4th and 5th grades at Linden, and I've been in 6th grade for 2 years. I feel that my heart is happiest teaching the intermediate elementary grades, especially inspiring children as readers and writers.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, as part of a family of educators. We joke sometimes that education has always been our family business. My father was an elementary principal and my mother was a teacher, both for 36 years. Actually, my mom and dad began their careers teaching 6th grade together in the same school. I attended Duquesne University, where I earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education in 2005. Following graduation, I moved to Doylestown and began teaching in Central Bucks.
I've always been drawn to stories, both as a reader, getting lost in great stories written by others, and also as a writer myself . In 2013, the year my son was born, I took part in the PA Writing and Literature Project's Summer Writing Institute, where I learned that the art of teaching writing and being a writer myself go hand in hand and continually strengthen each other. I earned a fellowship through the program, and the lessons I learned that summer continue to drive my daily teaching.
I live in Doylestown with my husband, and our 9-year-old son, Grant, and our brand new puppy, Daulton. My family is the light of my life and the most important thing to me. We love the outdoors and hope to bike, hike, and experience all of the United States National Parks over time, seeing as much of our country, and the world, as possible as a family of 3. In addition, I love to cook, take pictures, and am very interested in design. Those hobbies, along with reading and writing, AND TEACHING, all feed my creative soul.
I can't wait to get to know you and your soul a little. My passion and purpose as your teacher is to guide you in learning things that will help you express all the magic inside of you.
