Dear Parents,

Hello! I am so excited to introduce myself as your child’s teacher this year! This will certainly be a year that is both unique and unprecedented!

I would first like to thank you up front for all that you will be doing at home to help make this year a success.  I have always felt that teachers and parents are partners in education and I feel that more than ever as we embark on this journey together.  Please know that I am always here for you and I promise we will get through this together-whatever the year may bring.  As  you know, we will be starting the year virtually but when school reopens our class is scheduled to be a full five day traditional classroom.

In this e-mail you will find:

    • Meet the Teacher letter and virtual supply list
    • Class List
    • A timeline for the first week of school
    • Forms Survey for Parents to Complete
    • Technology Support

Meet the Teacher-See home page. I am honored to walk through this exceptional year together. I know many families from teaching first grade but I am excited to meet some new faces as well!  Please expect frequent contact with me, and please e-mail me with any questions and concerns you may have. I’m planning on a quick Teams or phone call with each family in the next week or so to touch base. I will send out a sign up genius as soon as possible.

Class List-See email from me for a copy.

Schedule-Below is an outline of our schedule for the first week-we will focus heavily on building our class community and getting to know each other.  I also plan on walking through all of the technology tools with the class and exploring how to navigate our new learning systems.

    9:00-9:30 LIVE Online with Class

    9:30-10:30 Independent Activity

    10:30-11:00 LIVE Online with Class

    11:00-11:30 Independent Activity

    11:30-12:30 Lunch & Recess

    12:30-1:00 LIVE Online with Class

    1:00-2:00 Independent Activity

    2:00-2:30 LIVE Online with Class

Forms Survey-Please complete this survey to help me learn about your student and family. Please feel free to include anything you may feel is important for me to know-your input is very important to me!

Technology Support -It is very important that your student’s device is set-up prior to Tuesday. I will be sending you and your student the Teams link for our first call at 9:00am on Tuesday morning.  Students must be logged in from their school device.  I will be walking the kids through the new Canvas learning system so do not worry about finding assignments or anything else yet on Canvas.  Please focus on getting them logged in with their student email and ready for Tuesday morning’s TEAMS call.

-Follow the directions you received with your device to get set-up, find your student’s e-mail, etc. A copy of that is found here: https://www.cbsd.org/1to1

This link was created to assist in more detail: https://www.cbsd.org/Page/63267

-If you have log-in and/or password issues, please contact our librarian Mrs. Jones, mjones@cbsd.org . She can reset your password if needed.

Below is an example of the workflow we will be using once we get started with Canvas:

Thanks in advance for all of your support! Please enjoy these last few days of summer and I look forward to meeting and talking to all of you next week!
