Sketchup Assignment: Class gift to Tohickon Proposal

    5/27/2020

    Overview

You have now completed your gift to Tohickon design challenge from the class of 2020.  You now need

to make a proposal that you will hand in to me for review and a grade. I will choose the top three projects per

class and we will all vote on the best design.

    Things to know

    1. Your proposal will have multiple views on a Microsoft Word document.

    2. Your designs will be drawn to scale and have measurements on them.

           * Please remember your drawings should be detailed and dimensioned so I can build the project.*

    3. Your design will need to be more detailed than what I have been seeing during distance learning.

    4. You will need to write a paragraph describing why you think I should build this project for Tohickon.

    5. Be creative. Please do not be inappropriate.

    6. I look forward to seeing your designs.  Please email them to me as an attached file. Do not share them

    from your sharepoint.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions.

    Sketchup Assignment

    5/13/2020

    Overview

You are now going to participate in a design challenge where you will potentially be putting me to work. You are Tohickon's Class

of 2020, and I would like to make a gift of your design. This is your chance to design a gift for Tohickon to leave your mark.

Your design, if chosen, will be built by me and be gifted to Tohickon and marked with the Class of 2020. So here is your chance; be creative.

It could be something simple or complex; it is up to you to design something that we will vote on and present to Mr. Marton for approval.

    Things to know

    1. You will need to rough sketch your design/thoughts. These will be added to your portfolio later.

    2. You will need to make your design on Sketchup to scale.

    3. Your design will need to be more detailed than what I have been seeing during distance learning.

    4. If your project is chosen, I will make it.

    5. Be creative.

    Sketchup Assignment

    4/29/2020

    Overview

You will now be taking your Sketchup drawings and making a portfolio in Word. I have included new

PowerPoints that will show you how to dimension your shapes.  I have also included a PowerPoint on

the Snip and Sketch tool. You can use this tool to take screen shots of your Sketchup drawings.

I have also shared an example of what your portfolio should look like.

    Things to know

    1. You will need to dimension each shape on Sketchup.

    2. You will be making a portfolio of your drawings using Microsoft WORD.

    3. Please make your best effort to make your dimensions visible in the portfolio.

    4. Do not forget to answer the questions and place them in your portfolio.

    5. Please save your portfolio as your name.

    Questions

    1. What has been the most difficult aspect of distance learning using Sketchup?

    2. Have my PowerPoints helped you? Do you find the PowerPoints more helpful than me teaching it to you in person?

    3. What is one thing you miss about Tohickon?

    4. Tell me about something you have built or created while you have been home. (feel free to send me pictures)

    5. Please let me know if there is something at your home you would like to design an improvement to or for.

    Directions for submitting work

    Intro to Sketchup

    Examples

Below is my example of what I would do with the bluetooth assignment including a brief description.  This is what I will be looking for from you.

    Mr. Good's Bluetooth Speaker

You will see that  I have chosen a two speaker design. The three layers will need to be made seperately due to the way the kit will work.

Part 1 is the back layer where the control panel and power cord will be fed through.

Part 2 is where the speakers and wiring will be assembled.

Part 3 is the face plate that will help support the phone, as well as hide the wiring and the speakers.

    Found or Upcycled Object Projects

Below you will find two examples of upcycled projects I have made. I am not looking for you to have pictures of completed projects,

but I am looking for you to take your rough sketches and draw the project to scale using sketchup.

I had an abundance of wood shims that are used to center windows and doors when installing them in a building. Instead of wasting them

they were turned into a head board for our guest room (or a napping room for Hans).

This example is a dining room table that is made from an Ash tree that had died on our property. It was cut down and milled for lumber.

You will see the tree on the left and the sketchup drawing on the right. This is what I will be looking for from you. When we meet again I will

show you what I am expecting you to do with the designs you have created.
