    Parents:

Week of March 30, 2020

  • Distance Learning Lesson for 3rd Grade - Week 3

     

    Overview: Create an Incredible Movie Soundtrack!

    Estimated Time: Approximately 20 minutes.

    Explanation: Use Incredibox to create background movie soundtracks.

    Quick things to know:

    1. Incredibox is an online music mixing game that allows you to create and record your own mixes. 
    2. Follow the link below to go to the Incredibox website.
    3. You can either use the web version or download the app from the website.
    4. Some of the pages on the website can take a moment or two to load so be patient.

    Tasks:

    • Download the PowerPoint below and follow the directions on the slide.
    • When you get to the Incredibox website choose “Try Web Version” (or download the app).
    • Select a version you would like to try.
    • After loading your version click the play button in the center.
    • Drag one of the icons below the characters onto a character and see what happens.
    • Complete the assignment on the PowerPoint slide.

    Extension: Create your own idea for a movie and write it down.  Create a movie track to go along with it.  You can even have more than one track!

  • Distance Learning Lesson for 3rd Grade Week 2

     

    Overview: Compose your own music! 

    Estimated Time: Approximately 20 minutes

    Explanation: Learn to compose your own music using Chrome Music Lab.

    Two quick things to know:

    1. Chrome Music Lab is a web-based music site that allows you to learn about song writing, rhythm, sound and more!
    2. This lesson will focus on song writing but feel free to explore other parts of the site.

    Tasks:

    • Click on the link below to go the Chrome Music Lab website.
    • Click on the file link below to access the worksheet.
    • After you have finished the worksheet, you may save your song and play it for your family.

  • Distance Learning Lesson for 3rd Grade Week 1

     

    Overview: March is Music in Our Schools Month! Schools in Central Bucks and all over the country are participating by highlighting the ways that music can connect us all. For this week’s activity, students will recognize that interests, knowledge, and skills relate to personal choices and intent when creating, performing, and responding to music. (PK8-MU:Cn.10.0)

    Estimated Time: Approximately 20 minutes

    Explanation: Enjoy an opportunity to connect with a family member or caregiver by interviewing them about the role of music in their life.

    Three quick things to know:

    1. Choose a family member or caregiver and use a questionnaire to guide your interview and discussion about music.
    2. Use the questions as a starting point, and feel free to discuss the answers in detail or ask follow-up questions.
    3. If you cannot print the questionnaire, create five questions you could ask about someone else’s musical background.

    Tasks:

    • Click on the file link below to access the questionnaire.
    • Choose someone to interview. Ask them the questions and record their answers.
    • After the questionnaire is finished, ask the person you interviewed to sign and date it at the bottom.
