    Overview: Preposition Review and Writing/Speaking Challenge

    Estimated Time: 30 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/Assignment:

    I can identify prepositions and prepositional phrases

    I can hold a conversation (written or spoken) with someone I care about, and I can develop several questions to ask them.

    Quick Things to Know:

    Many prepositions tell you where something is or when something happened

    Prepositional phrases often begin with a preposition and end with a noun/pronoun

    Common prepositions include: above, across, against, along, among, around, at, before, behind, below, beneath, beside, between, by, down, from, in, into, near, of, off, on, to, toward, under, upon, with and within

    Tasks:

    1. Complete the brief prepositional warm-up review on Canvas
    2. Read the directions for the “Socially Distanced Connections” writing/speaking task
    3. Complete the submission questionnaire on Canvas explaining who you contacted, mode, and topics

    I can respond in writing about a realization that I've made while reading. 

    I can respond in writing about a theme in my novel using textual evidence for support. 

    Quick Things to Know:

    Consider the overall message in your book club novel. 

    Tasks:

    • Complete the Book Club discussion found on Canvas
      • In a detailed paragraph, discuss one theme you have come across in your Book Club novel. What is the author’s overall message? Use textual evidence to support your reasoning.
      • Respond to 2 classmates
