    Distance Learning- Week 2

    Thursday, March 26th, 2020 (Day 7)

    Math Lesson

    Lesson Objective: Work on measurement skills by measuring household items.

     Materials: Measuring tool (ruler, paperclip, etc), household items

     Activity Guide:

    Obtain measuring tool. Choose at least five items in your home to measure. You can measure using a ruler in inches or a paperclip like item using units. 

    Extension activity: use your favorite small toy as a measurement tool. Measure the length of your favorite snack container or favorite toy and the length of the base of your front door.  

     

    Language Arts Lesson

    Lesson Objective:Read a book to your child and respond to What questions when asked

     Materials: book, question guide

     Activity Guide

    1. Read the story to your child or have he/she read to you. As you turn each page, look at the pictures and ask questions about what they see. Read the text. At the end of the story, ask your child specific “what” questions about the story. See if they can answer the questions with looking back in the book, if not, let them look back to find the answer.
    2. Read the story to your child. As you turn each page, look at the pictures and ask questions about what they see. Read the words and ask specific “what” questions about the story. Use the pictures to assist your child in responding.

    Lesson Objective: Economics

    Listen to the story, Down on Budget Farm and complete five multiple choice comprehension questions found in Unique Learning manilla Envelope.

     Materials: book, comprehension worksheet , and communication board, scissors, glue

    a.Read the story to your child or have he/she read to you.  As you turn each page, look at the pictures and ask questions about what they see. Read the text. Complete the crossword puzzle sheet. See if they can answer the questions with looking back in the book, if not, let them look back to find the answer.

    b.Read the story to your child.  As you turn each page, look at the pictures and ask questions about what they see. Read the words and ask specific “what” questions about the story.. Use the pictures/communication board provided to assist your child in responding. Complete crossword puzzle questions showing the child exactly where to find the answer in the book.     a.Independently practice writing your name 3 times. Choose one worksheet containing a letter of your name for practice.

    b. Choose one worksheet containing a letter of your name and complete with assistance from an adult. Write your name on the back with assistance.

     

    Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 (Day 6)

    Math Lesson

    Lesson Objective: Count a specific number of items from a larger group up to 20.

     Materials: Distance Learning Binders, paper and marker, items that can be counted in your home

     Activity Guide

    1. Write a number, provide your child with a quantity of manipulatives larger than the number shown, ask your child to give you the specified number of objects
    2. She the number to your child and count out loud the number of items you specified.
    3. Complete a math worksheet found in Distance Learning Binder which corresponds to the number of items they counted.

    Language Arts Lesson

    Lesson Objective: Review mastered Edmark sight words and complete comprehension activities.

     Materials: Edmark flash cards, Edmark Comprehension Worksheets

     Activity Guide:

    1. Show student Edmark Flash Cards and ask child what each word says.
    2. Place 3-5 Edmark cards out in front of your child. Ask them to “find ___”. Move the words around and change which words are put out.
    3. Complete Edmark worksheet found in Distance Learning Binder.

    Social Studies/Science Lesson

    Lesson Objective: Economics

    Math Lesson

    Lesson Objective: Work on addition, subtraction, and number identification using dice.

     Materials: Dice, writing utensil, and paper.

     Activity Guide:

    1.Roll the dice one at a time and identify the numbers.

    2.Roll two dice and complete addition problem with the two numbers.

    3.Roll two dice and complete subtraction problem with the two numbers.

    Math Lesson

    Lesson ObjectiveWork on subtraction skills using manipulatives.

     Materials: Unifex cubes or dollar bills found in Distance Learning Binder or items found around the house such as cheerios, small figurines, etc. Worksheets found in distance learning binder, paper, writing utensil.

     Activity Guide:

    Parent will write a subtraction problem on a piece of paper using ten -___ (10-1, 10-2, 10-3, etc). Give child ten manipulatives (stuck together if unifex cubes) and ask he/she to give the answer to the problem. Afterwards, find a subtraction worksheet in distance learning materials to complete.
