Ms. Swantek Day 6 Math – Wednesday, March 25
Overview: Strategies for Mental Math
Estimated Time: Approximately 45 minutes
Explanation:
You can use mental math strategies to add 2-digit numbers
Quick things to know:
- When no regrouping is needed, separate the smaller number by place value. Subtract the tens, then subtract the ones.
- When regrouping IS required, subtract a “close” number and add the extra back (because you subtracted too many).
- You don’t always need paper and pencil if you use mental math strategies.
Tasks:
- Complete the BLUE Math in Focus packet pages 3 and 4.
Keep your work in a folder and you may turn it in when you come back to school.
