    Explanation of Activity/Assignment:  hooks

Quick things to know:  Remember when we talked about how to hook a reader?  I want you to create a hook for the story below.  Remember we were working on 2-3 sentence hooks so try out few.

    1. Hooks:

The best thing about spring is the birds. I wake up and hear them chirping in my ear.  They sing, "Good morning, Joanne". Having a personal alarm clock to wake me up when the day begins, what could be better?

Those little birds do more than sing to me, they surprise me.  Oh yes, on average, birds can eat up to 1/2 to 1/4 of their body weight every day.  Can we say, watch out little worm!  RUN or I mean, shimmy away!!! After it rains, those little worms provide food for birds.  Every animal needs to eat, right?

The last reason spring birds are amazing is because they are so bright in colorful.  In the early spring. the tress are still bare.  They are starting to form little flowers and green buds but the trees are still gray.  As you look into the woods, you can see birds pop with their bright colors.  They light up the forest with their bright blues and reds.  Go outside and look for yourself.  Spring birds are amazing!

I need a hook for this piece, can you add to my writing by adding a two to three sentence hook.  See below for an examples
