Explanation of Activity/Assignment:
I can review notes on sentence types
I can identify the four types of sentences: simple, compound, complex, compound-complex

Quick Things to Know:
Definitions:
Simple sentence: A sentence with one independent clause and no dependent clauses.
Compound sentence: A sentence with multiple independent clauses but no dependent clauses.
Complex sentence: A sentence with one independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
Compound-complex sentence: A sentence with multiple independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.
Tasks:
- Journal (10 minutes): continue your journal entry writing from last week. Set a timer for 10 minutes and try to write for the entire time.
- Please select ONE of the following learning choices. Please spend 20-25 minutes completing ONE of the activities below. You may certainly do more than one if you would like.
- Continue to work on your self-selected writing with a focus on sentence types (and comma usage from last week)
- Return to a previous writing piece and revise it for correct sentence types (and comma usage from last week)
- Return to the journal entries you did this past week and revise one or more for sentence types (and comma usage from last week)
- Read this brief articleand write a short reflection with a focus on sentence types (and comma usage from last week). You may write your reflection on a word document you save in your ELA-A folder on One Drive or in your Writer's Notebook.

Overview: Book Club
Estimated Time: 30 minutes
Explanation of Activity/Assignment:
I can engage in sustained silent reading.
I can record and be accountable for my daily reading.
I can monitor my comprehension of the story as I read.
I can identify main characters, inciting incident, and key conflicts.
Quick Things to Know:
Materials --> Self-Selected Book.
Use a bookmark in your novel to keep your place.
Find a place where you can concentrate (one free of distraction).
Tasks:
- Read your Self-Selected Book Club novel for 30 minutes. Don't take your cell phone or laptop with you. Allow yourself to become immersed in the world of the characters; find your reading stride.
- If you like to use post-it notes to record a few (not 20 or 30 but 2 or 3) observations, feel free to do so. However, this reading should be enjoyable and stress free.
- Fill in your new reading log found on OneNote in your Book Club folder titled "Reading Log"
- Complete the Exit Ticket found on Canvas.
