    MATH

    Overview: Counting and Writing Teen Numbers 11-19.

    Estimated Time: Approximately 15 minutes

    Things to know:

    1. Sit with mom, dad, grandparent or guardian, or your brother or sister to practice the activities for the day.
    2. If you are unable to print the worksheets to go along with this activity. Use household items for your child to count like beans, noodles, stuffed animals, etc.
    3. If you do not have the supplied worksheets or access to any of the worksheets, it is fine to create your own based off the supplied worksheets.
    4. More specific directions are provided on each sheet/activity that goes along with these lessons. I will send these sheets through email.

    Explanation: You will count pictures and write teen numbers 11-19.

    Tasks:

    1. Write numbers 11 to 19 and fill in the ten-frame to match each number amount.
    2. You will count the given pictures and write each number.

    How is this assignment turned in to the teacher: Take a picture and post to Seesaw or put in grab bag for return to school.

     

    READING

    Overview: Complete story map about Click Clack Moo Cows That Type.

    Estimated Time: Approximately 20/25 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: Watch Seesaw video about completing paper for beginning, middle, and end.

    Quick things to know:

    1. Watch video of how to tell about a beginning, middle, end of story on Seesaw.
    2. Students can listen to my reading of Click Clack Moo Cows That Type again on Seesaw.
    3. If you cannot access Seesaw, reading any book from home will be fine. Have your child tell you about the events in the story.

    Tasks:

    1. Login to Seesaw and select the activity for BME.
    2. Complete paper that was started yesterday (character, setting).

    How this activity is turned into teacher: On the last page, take a picture of your finished work and post on Seesaw or put paper in grab bag until we return to school.

     

     

    PHONICS/WORD STUDY

    Overview: Practice with alphabet order squares and practice writing letters e-h

    Estimated Time: 20/25 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: Students will use letter squares to practice sounds and putting tiles in abc order.

    Quick things to know about letter formation board:

    1. Students use these letters in this format on a daily basis in school.
    2. Use cut out letters to manipulate on board. Top letters remain as is to be used as a work board.

    Tasks:

    1. Mix up letter tiles and put face down on the table.
    2. Choose a tile, say the letter name, key word, and sound. Put it on the correct spot on board. (b, bat, /b/). OR
    3. Mix up letters on table, recite abc’s and put back on board as fast as possible.
    4. Complete paper from grab bag…practice writing letters Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh in best printing and color.

    Optional Extension/Alternate activity: Parents say 5 words out loud (one at a time). Students repeat word and “tap it out” twice. Then use letter cards to spell word on board. (5 words to try: tip, had, zap, cut, sod)

     

    WRITING

    Overview: Complete writing activity in mini writer’s notebook.

    Estimated Time: 20/30 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: Students can write in their mini writer’s notebook about an idea of their choice.

    Quick things to know:

    1. Mini writer’s notebooks are in the grab bag. They are pages stapled together to look like a journal.
    2. We do this everyday in school. Writing should be done in pencil with detailed, colored pictures.
    3. Students should write in complete sentences, using a capital letter for beginning of sentence and names, and period at the end.

    Tasks: Start writing about a topic of your choice. Need an idea? Tell me about some of the things your family is doing while inside. Any fun games? Any good tv shows? Any good snacks? Check Seesaw for my writing for today.

    Links/Activities: Seesaw (optional)

    Optional extension/challenge activities: Pretend you are the teacher. On plain paper, write 2 sentences like I do on the easel. Use 2 hard word wall words. Take a picture of it on Seesaw.

    How this will be turned in: Keep writer’s notebook in grab bag and bring back to school when we reopen. Can also take a picture of today’s writing and post to Seesaw.

     

    CONTENT (SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE)

    Overview: “Animal Smiles” Scholastic News mini book read and complete activity pages

    Estimated Time: 20/30 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: Students will read a Scholastic News mini book called Animal Smiles from their grab bag and complete activities.

    Quick things to know: Activity pages were emailed home.

    Tasks:

    1. Read mini book, Animal Smiles from grab bag. Complete back page.
    2. Complete activity pages about book. (see email)
