    ·       Check your student email, especially the day before our class period

    ·       Complete and submit assignments by the due date.

    Note Taking and The Giver’s Exposition

    Explanation of Assignment 

    Today you will create multiple choice questions based off the Exposition of The Giver.

    Three quick things to know

    1.)  The elements of fiction can be applied to your very nonfiction life.

    2.)  Note taking= recording information from another source

    3.)  You should have a NEW independent reading book throughout the duration of the distance learning period. If you do not have one now, read The Giver!

    1. Download my notes on chapter 1 of The Giver

    2. Read over the notes to review the chapter and all of the information you may have missed the first time.

    3. Use the notes to create five multiple choice questions about chapter 1 on a Word document.

    Explanation of Assignment 

    Today you will SHARE your journal about the background information of your own life.

    Three quick things to know

    1.)  The elements of fiction can be applied to your very nonfiction life.

    2.)  I hope you had a great weekend. 

    3.)  You should have a NEW independent reading book throughout the duration of the distance learning period. If you do not have one now, read The Giver!

    Last Wednesday’s Tasks

    1. Create a list, in your journal (or notebook), of five nouns (person, place, thing, or event) that have shaped you into the young person you are today.

    2. Next, draw an arrow from each item to somewhere else on the page, and in a few words/sentences, describe how that item has impacted your life.

    3. Read over your list/web when you are done. Add items if needed. Date your entry (March, 25th). Put your journal somewhere safe.

    Today’s Activities

     

    1.)    Read from an SSR book for 15 minutes

    2.)    Upload a picture of your journal entry from last Wednesday to Canvas; the directions are still above.

    What aspects or parts of the story’s EXPOSITION do we receive in the story’s opening chapter? (10 minutes)
