    Task 3: Decoding (3rd and 4th grade)

    Overview: To practice decoding words

    Estimate Time: 10 minutes

    Explanation of Activity:

    • Decode to read words with CVCe syllables
    • You may: read to yourself, read to someone else, or listen to someone else read to you.

    Quick Things to Know: Log onto Seesaw to access your words for the day.  Your parents have an email with your login info. If you are unsure or did not receive the email please reach out to me at: jjohnson@cbsd.org. In order to record this activity, please use Chrome or Firefox as your internet browser.

    Task:

    1. Log onto your Seesaw account. When you log in, click the top left gray box and click the class, "19-20 Mrs. Johnson"
    2. Next, click on your activities folder.
    3. Select “CVCe syllables
    4. Tap “+ add response”
    5. Before recording the words, code the words and practice reading them. Always code suffixes first, then consonant digraphs & vowel-r combinations, and pattern your word .  Finally code your vowels with a macron or breve based on the pattern.
    6. Tap on the microphone
    7. Record yourself reading the words
    8. Click the green button “Done” in the top right corner after recording
    9. Click the green check mark after reviewing your recording

    4. Tap “+ add response”
    5. Before recording the words, code the words and practice reading them. Always code suffixes first, then consonant digraphs & vowel-r combinations, and pattern your word (VCCV).  Finally code your vowels with a macron or breve based on the pattern.
    6. Using the hand, drag the correct emoji to the matching word.
    7. Tap on the microphone
    8. Record yourself reading the words
    9. Click the green button “Done” in the top right corner after recording
    10. Click the green check mark after reviewing your recording
