    MATH

    Overview: Counting and Writing Numbers to 10.

    Estimated Time: Approximately 15 minutes

    Explanation: You will count out loud to 10 forward and backward, count pictures and write numbers to 10.

    Things to know:

    1. Sit with mom, dad, grandparent or guardian, or your brother or sister to practice counting and writing numbers 1-10.
    2. If you do not have the supplied worksheets or access to any of the worksheets, it is fine to create your own based off the supplied worksheets.
    3. More specific directions are provided on each sheet/activity that goes along with these lessons. I will send these sheets through email.

    Tasks:

    1. Count to 10 forward and backward.
    2. You will count the given pictures and write each number.
    3. Write numbers 1 to 10 and draw a picture of raindrops to match each number amount.

    How is this assignment turned in to the teacher: Put papers in grab bag to bring to school upon return or take pictures of work and post to Seesaw.

     

    READING

    Overview: Click, Clack Moo Cows That Type story response part 1/ Practice reading word wall words

    Estimated Time: 20/30 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: You will watch a video and complete part 1 of the story map

    Quick things to know:

    1. Story maps are in grab bag. (Paper that has boxes for character, setting, beginning, middle, and end.)
    2. You will only complete the character and setting boxes today.

    Tasks:

    1. Watch video of Click, Clack Moo Cows That Type on Seesaw.
    2. Draw and/or write the characters in the story and the setting. (Where the story takes place and when it is happening.)
    3. Use your “Fridge Word Wall Words” Chart and practice reading your words. Pick 3 words that are still tricky for you and rainbow write them.

    PHONICS/WORD STUDY

    Overview: Practice letter sounds.

    Estimated Time: 10/15 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: Use alphabet order squares to show understanding of letter sounds.

    Quick things to know:

    1. This is the letter board from the grab bag that was set up yesterday.
    2. Letter board is set up on table with letter tiles mixed up to the side face down.
    3. We use the short sounds of the vowels.

    Tasks

    1. Mix up letter tiles and put face down on the table.
    2. Choose a tile, say the letter name, key word, and sound. Put it on the correct spot on board. (b, bat, /b/).

    Links/Activities: Not applicable

    Variations/Challenges: Try the same activity again, but time yourself. Can you beat your last time? OR without timing, try just to say letter name, or letter sound, without the picture clue.

     

    WRITING

    Overview: Complete writing activity in mini writer’s notebook.

    Estimated Time: 20/30 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: Students can write in their mini writer’s notebook about an idea of their choice.

    Quick things to know:

    1. Mini writer’s notebooks are in the grab bag. They are pages stapled together to look like a journal.
    2. We do this everyday in school. Writing should be done in pencil with detailed, colored pictures.
    3. Students should write in complete sentences, using a capital letter for beginning of sentence and names, and period at the end.

    Tasks: Start writing about a topic of your choice. Need an idea? Tell me about an activity you liked so far for your school work. Check Seesaw for my writing for today.

    Optional extension/challenge activities: Pretend you are the teacher. On plain paper, write 2 sentences like I do on the easel. Use 2 hard word wall words. Take a picture of it on Seesaw.

    How this will be turned in: Keep writer’s notebook in grab bag and bring back to school when we reopen. Can also take a picture of today’s writing and post to Seesaw.

     

    CONTENT (SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE)

    Overview: Review of The 5 Senses

    Estimated Time:20/30 minutes

    Explanation of Activity/ Assignment: Student will use books on epic to review the 5 senses and how they help us.

    Quick things to know:

    1. The 5 senses are a review. All assigned books on epic are books that can be read to your child on the app. You will not need to help.

    Tasks

    1. Read books about The 5 senses on epic.
    2. Draw a picture of a person. Label the parts of the body that use our 5 senses. Can use blank paper or Seesaw. (You could even take a picture of yourself on Seesaw and add labels for smell, touch, taste, feel, and hear!)
