When completing the graphic organizer for this assignment, you can do one of the following options:
- Log onto your Seesaw account in my class (“19-20 Mrs. Johnson”) to access the graphic organizer for this assignment. When you log in, click on your activities folder and select “RACES Reading Response”.
- If you would like to respond to your RACES reading response question on paper, please take a picture of it afterwards and upload to Seesaw or email it to me 😊
Task:
- Log onto your RAZ kids account. When you log in, click on “My Assignments” and select your nonfiction book.
- Finish reading the book.
- Next, complete your RACE reading response based on your book (see below). Don’t forget to follow the RACES strategy!
- Wing’s Visit to Singapore: What did you learn about learn about learning a new skill or hobby from this story?
- Changes: Do you think that the girl in the story likes to know about changes before they happen? Why or Why not?
- Noise in the Night: Who do you think was braver, Jason or Manuel? Explain
- Challenge yourself to record yourself reading on Reading A-Z and send me the recording (use the record function on the website)
- Submit your RACES organizer through Seesaw or email.
- Take the quiz on Reading A-Z at the end of the book.

Task:
- Log onto your RAZ kids account. When you log in, click on “My Assignments” and select your nonfiction book.
- Prior to reading, read the title and take a picture book.
- Review the vocabulary in your book.
- Then write down 2 predictions using the title, vocabulary, and picture clues.
- Read a few pages of your book.
- Submit your predications through Seesaw, email, or turn in the completed copy when we return to school.

Task:

- Before reading your book, complete the “Know” section of your KWLS chart. Write down at least 3 things you know about the topic of the book. Use a sentence starter such as, “I already know that…”
- Then write down at least 4 questions you want to learn about the topic. Use a sentence starter such as, “I want to learn…”
- Read the glossary and review the chapter/section titles.
- Upload your KWLS chart with the "Know" and "Wonder" filled in to Seesaw :)
