    Overview: First Grade Art Lesson 

    Estimated Time: 25 Minutes

    Explanation:  Shoe Fish

    Materials that are Needed:  Paper, crayons or markers or colored pencils, Shoe

    Things to know:  This activity will help you use your imagination while using an everyday shape – a SHOE!

    Tasks:

    1. Trace the bottom of your shoe/slipper on the paper – turn the paper in all directions to find the best view your imaginary fish, think about fins/gills/scales – add color when your pencil drawing is complete
    2. Trace the side of a shoe/slipper/boot – turn the paper in all directions to find the best view of your imaginary fish, think about fins/gills/scales – add color when your pencil drawing is complete
    3. Trace 2 or more shoes/overlapping or next to each other to create a fish tank full of imaginary fish, think about fins/gills/scales – add color when your pencil drawing is complete

    Materials that are Needed:  Paper, crayons or markers or colored pencils, found objects

    Things to know:  Objects and shapes can overlap in a picture.

    Tasks:

    1. Find 2 or 3 random object in your house you can trace like scissors or a bottle of glue or a toy.
    2. Trace each object on your paper 3 or 4 times. Let the lines cross and overlap.
    3. Color your objects neatly and completely.

    2. Watch author and illustrator Mo Willems and follow along with your own doodle.
