• Hello and welcome to my distance learning page!

    I will be available to communicate using my CBSD e-mail (lspiece@cbsd.org) between the hours of 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM and will be using One Note to collect all student work and provide feedback. I will be sending an email to all parents when needed on how to access student materials either from a student lap top or from any other computer.

  • Welcome to Week 10 of Phase 2 of Distance Learning! It is a B week! It is our FINAL week of Distance Learning for the 2019-2020 School Year!

    Truly cannot believe we made it to the end! I am so proud of everyone's hard work and effort over these last 12 weeks of craziness! I have enjoyed our time together and look forward to working with some of you for ESY! Next Monday, we will have a last get together for our class. Also, if you have any photos, send them my way so that they can be added to our video!

    It is teacher appreciation week!! I want to take a minute and say THANK YOU to parents. You have taken on a huge job of both trying to manage your homes, some working, and making sure your child gets their school work done each day. You have become their teacher in addition to all of the other roles you fill. I am extremely grateful to all of you for the support that you have given me and your child through this time. It has been amazing to see them rise to this challenge, and it is because of YOU!!

    Overview: Laundry sorting

    Tasks: 

    1. Have student collect laundry within the home and bring to laundry room/basement/area.

    2. Provide 2 baskets for them to sort lights and darks. Model sorting a few items. 

    3. Have student finish the task and prompt as needed.

    4. In OneNote I have posted an attachment with various file folder activities related to laundry. If you want I have listed pages to print for sorting by color. This can be additional practice for your child.

    Overview: Sweep the Floor

    Tasks:

    2. Provide student with a broom and dust pan and then model sweeping a small area, then using the dust pan and sweeping dirt into pan. If student is unable to sweep, try to have them hold the dust pan, or do hand over hand with them.

    IXL is offerring free trials right now that you can sign up for and work on various skills. I recommend spending 10-15 minutes a day reinforcing skills on this site. I am going to play with it and will put suggestions in the OneNote. Starfall is a lower level site that is interactive and works on letter sounds and other reading skills. Just another resource for you!

    Tasks: 

    1. Provide student with materials needed to wipe down the kitchen safely. Cloth towel/paper towel and spray/cleaner, or a lysol wipe.

    2. Model cleaning one area of the counter and moving items, if needed, or have your child begin with moving items, spraying a small area, wiping it down, moving items back, then moving to the next area. Use the visual in OneNote if needed for steps they can follow.

    3. Encourage them to do more than one area, such as the kitchen and the bathroom.

    4. If you want, take a picture and email to Mrs. Spiece.

    1. Set out items needed to set the table and provide attached visual if needed.

    2. Model setting out one place setting if needed, or have your child begin with setting out plates at each spot at the table.

    3. Once plates have been completed, have your child set out napkins (model folding if needed). 

    4. Continue with forks, knives, and spoons.

    5. Last have them place a cup at each place setting.
