• Welcome to 2nd Grade's Distance Learning Resources

    Tuesday, March 17th:

You should have received the email below today.

    Dear Parents,

Happy Tuesday! We hope that you now better understand Central Bucks’ Distance Learning Plan and have begun to navigate resources that your child(ren)’s teacher(s) has/have shared via email, Sharepoint, or Seesaw.

You are receiving this email because your child receives supplemental reading instruction at Butler. We too have a plan that we’d like to share with you, as we know that the supplemental instruction that your child(ren) receives is integral to his/her literacy development and achievement.

In addition to the resources that were sent home on Thursday, you can also find more on our website by clicking here. We have organized our Distance Learning Page by grade-level and will be posting assignments and recommended activities to engage in. Please bookmark this page for easy access. Above all, please know that reading to and with your child is one of the best ways to maintain his/her skills throughout the entirety of our time away from Butler 😊

While we recognize that this may be challenging due to work schedules and childcare arrangements, the Reading Team wanted to provide another means by which your child(ren) could maintain their skills. We will be using an online platform known as RAZ-Kids to provide students access to appropriate leveled texts and activities to accommodate for not meeting in person. After your child logs in, he/she will see the websites that they are subscribed to.

Students access their leveled text through an interactive learning portal (RAZ-Kids) designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading. As Reading Specialists, we can listen to and provide feedback to your child regarding their oral reading fluency and comprehension.

To Login to RAZ-Kids on a computer, go to www.kidsa-z.com. If you and your child(ren) chooses to use a mobile device, download the Kids A-Z app from the App Store or Google Play.

The Reading Specialist that has been assigned to your child will share more detailed login instructions with you tomorrow. Below are general instructions for how to access your child(ren)’s account for the first time:

    1. Login to www.kidsa-z.com or the Learning A-Z app
    2. Enter or choose the teacher username
    3. Your child finds his/her username on the class chart
    4. Your child enters his/her personalized password
    5. Click on “My Assignment”

Your child(ren) will be assigned to read and record one book per day (or per two days in some cases) over the next 10 days we are out of school. Please know that this is supplemental to the work that your child(ren)’s teacher has provided. These assigned books are not mandatory, though we would love for students to access this resource as a way for us to maintain contact and instruction with each of them.

Should you have any questions regarding, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.

    Sincerely,

    The Reading Team

Mrs. Kuhn, Mrs. Sauers, Mrs. Meade, and Mrs. Burkholder
