    Distance Learning Phase 2

    Welcome to my Distance Learning Phase 2 Page for  Introduction to Law.  During this phase the course will be moving forward in the curriculum with a focus on  covering the major objectives and points of each unit.  The frame work for my course during Phase 2 will be as follows:

     

    Daily Expectations for Students:

    1.  Daily check in and attendance in meeting held at the start of our Class time (as posted) via the use of Microsoft Teams.  

    2.  Check my Teacher Website for Daily and Weekly Assignments and accompanying emails.

    3.  Assignments will be posted in the pull down menu to the left.

     

    Office Hours:

    For Third Block Law-  I will be available at 9:30 a.m. (Unless otherwise noted) on Monday and Wednesday via Teams, and also via email at sblake@cbsd.org

     

    Classroom Tools:

    Our class will be using a combination of my Teacher Website, District Email and Microsoft Teams for the assigning and collection of work.

     

    Resources:

    We will be relying on the use of this teacher website for daily agendas, Email for specific communications and materials sent as attachments, the Textbook, Ancillary Materials as Assigned, and Microsoft Teams.

     

     

     

    Welcome to the Distance Learning Page for the Introduction to Law course. Posted below will be daily activities and lessons designed to enrich, expand and reenforce topics and material introduced to date in the course.  Students will rely on the use of their textbook, ancillary packet materials, and additonal materials and prompts that may be delivered to students via District Email.  As such, students are encouraged to check their email on a daily basis.

    Topic:  Notorius Cases Research

    Time: 45 Minutes

    Tasks:  

             * Research and develop Notorious Case project in accordance with the guidelines and requirements set forth in the assignment sheet.

             * Remember, I am available by email to assist and answer questions.  Please reach out if you need help.

    Topic:  Notorius Cases Research

    Time: 45 Minutes

    Tasks:  

             * Research and develop Notorious Case project in accordance with the guidelines and requirements set forth in the assignment sheet.

             * Remember, I am available by email to assist and answer questions.  Please reach out if you need help.

             * Do not spend more that 45 minutes on your project each day. 

             * Remember that you are to use a variety of sources and that your project must include an embedded video clip related to your case.

    Topic:   Open day to prepare for Phase 2 Distance Learning.  Please make sure your computer is working.  Make plans to attend tomorrow's meeting no                     teams.

    Topic:  The American Legal System- An Analysis.

    Estimated Time:  45 Minutes

    Tasks:

    • Complete Problems 5.1 on pg. 48 and Prob. 5.2 on pg. 50. Record your responses in your notes. 
    • Consider- is our Legal System Broken? Watch the Ted Talk on “Four ways to fix our Broken Legal System”. A link with instructions and response questions will be sent to your school email account. Please respond in your notes and in an email back to me.

    Topic:  The American Legal System- Application and Review

    Time:  45 Minutes

    Tasks:

    • Applying your knowledge of our Legal System, Please complete the following problems in the Text Book: Problem 4.1 on page 44 and Problem 4.2 on page 45. 
    • Vocabulary on Page 47- “DA” through “Memorandum of Law”. Please define using the internet, your notes or your packet.

    Tasks:

            * Reveiw Ted Talk link sent via email and complete tasks assigned therein.  Be sure to respond via email.

            * Complete any remaining packet vocabulary

    Topic:  American Legal System- Notorious Cases

    Time:  45 Minutes

    Tasks:  

            *  Review the Notorious Case Assignment sheet handed out in class the week before we  for District Learning.

            *  Identify the Case that you would like to learn more about and upon which you will develope a research based activity.

            * Please review the supporting email for more details and specifics.  A copy of the assignment is attached to the email in case you misplaced your sheet.

    Tasks:

    • Make sure that all vocabulary on packet pages 4-5, 8-9, 10-11 have been completed. If not, work to complete these definitions over the next few days.
    • Please Make sure that you have completed packet page 12.
    • Please Read and Complete the Reading on Juries on Packet Pages 32-38. (Please note that page 1 of the reading is on pg. 33, then go back to 32). Answer questions on Page 38.

    • Review Vocabulary- Using the internet, notes or your packet, define the vocabulary on packet page 46 (Terms ADR through Discovery).
