    Overview

    Book and Journal Activity

    Estimated Time

    30 minutes

    Explanation of Assignment

    Three quick things to know

1.)  Reading can help you think about your life in new ways.

2.)  Journaling your thoughts can help you be truthful to yourself later in life.

3.)  I read a lot when I was your age, but I never journaled. I wish I had! I do now.

    Tasks

    1.)  See below

    2.)  Keep going

    3.)  Almost there

    Activities

First, read from your SSR book for 15 more minutes today. This is a NO PHONE time.

Next, locate the discussion in the Distance Learning module titled “Book Discussion.”

Lastly, share your opinion of your book with the rest of the class (this is what you journaled about yesterday).

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Read and Journal Activity

    Estimated Time

    Tasks

    1.)  See below

    2.)  Keep going

    3.)  Almost there

    Activities

Find a quiet place in your house, with no electronics, and read a book for 15 to 20 minutes.

Journal about why you like or do not like your current book. Your physical journal should be a small book with lined paper, similar to the size of Schooled or The Giver. If you do not have access to a book this size, any notebook will do. The point is that you have something you can write in on a weekly basis for the remainder of the school year.

Your journal entry should be between four and six sentences (a paragraph). Make sure you date your entry! Maybe practice your signature at the bottom of it as well—I am sure it needs work!

To close the week tomorrow, I will share my journal entry with you and will ask you to do the same (and this time, with the rest of the class!).

Let me know if you have any questions!
