Ms.Charbonneau is the author of the New York Times best selling The Testing trilogy (The TestingIndependent Study, and Graduation Day) as well as two mystery series: The Rebecca Robbins mysteries and the Glee Club mysteries.

    Advanced ELA Distance Learning Activity, Tuesday, March 24

    Overview:

    • In this activity, you will explain or show how to play one of three games from The Green Glass Sea.

    Estimated Time:

    • Approximately 30 minutes

    Explanation:

    • In the novel The Green Glass Sea, the kids on the Hill entertain themselves playing different games. Three of those games are Gin RummyRed Rover, and Jacks.  Create a video that explains how to play ONE of the games listed. If you are unsure of the rules, spend a few minutes researching. You may include a video demonstration of how to play the game as well. Encourage family members and siblings to join in the fun! Post your video on Flipgrid for everyone to enjoy. HAVE FUN! (The Flipgrid can be found in Canvas under the March 24th Distance Learning Lessson.)

    • In this activity, you will keep a record of your daily life during this unprecedented time. This journal entry should be at least 5 sentences and can be formatting in any way you would like—you may choose to write it as a diary entry, short story, or poem! No matter how you choose to write it, make use to reflect on the following:

      • What you are seeing?
        • Around you
        • On the news
        • On social media
      • What you are doing?
        • How are you keeping busy?
        • What is distance learning like?
      • How are you feeling?

       Once you have finished your journal entry, please add a picture or other creative element.
